Li Jin (* 1958 Tiajin) belongs to the independent Chinese artists of the present, despite or because of his roots in the painting and literary traditions of his country. Li Jin lives in full awareness of the rapid process of change in today’s China. As artist he endeavours to keep his personal area of freedom, maintains distance to the expectations of the market and counters the prevailing pluralism of style with an unmistakeable visual language. The themes of his work envision his personal experiences – he captures the everyday and often incidental in black ink painting on silk. During the past years Li Jin travelled twice to Germany. The exhibition shows the paintings he did during his stay.
